Homemade chicken kebab kills big mac recipe

4 min read

I know that it is not very fashionable to highlight the benefits of Arab culture in recent years, but this chicken kebab recipe is incredible and I will tell you one thing: if we talk about fast food, Kebab kills Big Mac. This article is presented by House Needy.

I’m not making a political statement of any kind, huh? They are not created. But really, you go to the chain of all kebab or shawarma chains, and the food they give you tastes something like food. And it looks like food. Nothing to do with a hamburger from the big chains.

There are better and worse, that’s for sure. In the city where I lived for years, Barcelona, the best kebabs (kebab and shawarma are not the same) are usually on the Rambla del Raval. And our favorite is the Raval Döner, where they make a durum kebab that makes you go completely crazy.

Sure, one there asks for lamb and they cut it with that weird razor they cut meat with. And they put that amazing yogurt sauce on it. And one sits down at the table with the kebab, takes a beer, and looks at Botero’s cat. What a plan.

Well, one day remembering this great plan I thought I could make homemade durum kebabs to pay tribute to us in life. Obviously, my house does not have that kind of vertical grill where kebabs are made and I decided to make my homemade chicken kebab, softer meat that I assumed that by not cutting it so thin it would still be as tender as an original kebab.

So here I leave you the recipe for a homemade chicken kebab or whatever you want to call it. No happy box, no dolls, no supersize, because it’s already huge.

And without extra of anything, because my homemade kebab already has everything.

Chicken Kebab Recipe

Homemade chicken kebab

Ingredients

This listing is for 4 kebabs. They can add or subtract proportionally as appropriate.

  • 4 slices of Arabic bread
  • Optional: grated carrot, onion, feta cheese
  • 1 large chicken breast
  • 1 tomato
  • 6 lettuce leaves

For the marinade

  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp. Of olive oil
  • 1 tsp mild (or spicy!) curry
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin

  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 dinette of garlic
  • 1 tbsp. of water
  • 1 tbsp. Of olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Kebab Recipe Step By Step

  • Fillet the chicken breast and cut it into thin strips. Season.
  • Mix all the ingredients of the marinade, including the clove of garlic, and minced. With your hands, dip the chicken in the liquid. Cover with plastic wrap and leave to rest in the fridge for at least 1/2 hour. The more the better: the tastier our homemade kebab.
  • For the vegetables: cut the tomato into very thin slices and then cut them into halves. Cut the lettuce into thin strips, 1 cm. or less. Optional: scratch the carrot. Cut the onion into very thin slices.
  • The yogurt sauce: mix all the ingredients and beat until there are no yogurt lumps. The garlic is minced very fine. For more specifications about this sauce, see this post: Kebab yogurt sauce: recipe and 5 different uses.
  • The chicken: heat a frying pan and put all the chicken and its marinade in it. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Do not overdo it, the idea is that it is tender and not dry.
  • The bread: toast it a little (just a little, it should be soft) and open it as you can see in the photo. It’s easy because it’s already open inside.
  • From the homemade kebab: Start with the lettuce, then the tomato slices, and the rest of the vegetables. Above them, the golden chicken. And on the chicken, the yogurt sauce. If you put feta cheese on it (it’s great), it goes on top of everything, made “crumbs”. Now yes, tune in to Al Jezeera and to the table.
